2009 released compilation from popular 1970s group.

Originally from Huntly, Rumour are twins Gerard & Shade Smith, Jacques Koolen, & Ross Hindman.Forming in High School in 1963 they originally performed as the Sapphires.
In 1971 the band moved to Auckland. Shade & Gerard began writing more great songs and they recorded L'amour est L'Enfant de la Liberte which was at No.1 for 6 weeks, followed by another popular single, Holy Morning. They were the support act for the Beach Boys and Neil Sedaka for their Auckland shows, and also toured New Zealand with Cilla Black.

Debut album Garden Of Smiles was released in 1971 and Land Of New Vigour and Zeal followed in 1972 - both albums contained charting singles. At the same time Shade Smith released a couple of singles under his own name, "The Life Of A Story"/"Beautiful To Me" and "Woman In My Life"/"I've Got To Stay". Shade was an in-demand songwriter at the time. He wrote the very successful and popular "Sunshine Through A Prism" for Suzanne.A third album "Holy Morning" was also released in 1972. It contained songs from the first two albums, plus a few new songs. Two more singles came out in 1973, "Like Children Do"/"The Fish and the Alley Of Destruction" and "Beautiful To Me"/"Play Mama Play" before the release of the fourth album "An Evening At Home - The Best Of The Rumour".
After going their own separate ways for a few years, they reunited in 1985 for the 25 Years of Television Special, which was nationally broadcast on TV.
As well as the four original 'Sapphires' from Huntly College, the band now includes Barry Rushton (drummer) from the 60's band The Kal-q-Lated Risk and Judy Donaldson ,formerly of popular 1960's TV and recording duo,the Chicks.
