Known as 'The Voice in a Million', Maori singer Eddie was one of the outstanding attractions of Joe Brown's Country and Western Stage Shows in the 1970's. With vocal talents that were were pure genius, he left audiences stunned and breathless. He was also master of many instruments and one of New Zealand's most versatile entertainers.
Eddie was born totally blind in May 1945, and spent most of his childhood at the Blind Institute in Auckland. As a teenager he toured with Howard Morrison, John Hore, Paul Walden and Peter Posa. In 1970 he decided to go solo and the hits and international fame soon followed. He was known as New Zealand's International Singing Star and in 1972 the Country Music Association of America invited him to perform at the Grand Ole Opry birthday celebrations in Nashville. He continued to tour the US and Canada before settling in Australia.
