Jeremy Taylor is perhaps one of NZ's greatest unsung singer-songwriters.Performing solo since 1991 & ex-frontman for respected band Cinematic [over 2000 albums sold locally], Taylor has finally dropped the solo album his fans have been waiting some ten years for, the wonderful 'Black Balloons'.'Black Balloons'has a distinctly melancholic flavour, with influences from songwriters such as Neil Young, Gene Clark & Joni Mitchell, alongside more contemporary artists such as Red House Painters, The Smiths & My Bloody Valentine. Album tracks range from the expansive opening track 'If You Want Me To Burn'to the sonic attack of 'Idiot Heart'& 'Duress', right through to the delicate `Little Doll' & 'Blessed'.The album features the talents of a wide assortment of musicians, with a core cast including Cinematic's Andrew Friend & James Guthrie, alongside Stereobus guitar whiz Francis Hunt, former Breathing Cage drummer Shane Bolingford, ex Pumpkinhead bassist Vaughan Watson, Breathe keyboardist Steve Gallagher & ex-Puffins Jeremy Lake & Lindon Puffin.Jeremy has accompanied Bic Runga on a promotional trip to Australia & his solo work has seen him support the likes of Lloyd Cole, J Mascis [Dinosaur jr], Julia Deans [Fur Patrol], Glenn Tilibrook [Squeeze] & Phoenix Foundation.
