'Stolen Hill' is the eagerly awaited follow-up to Anika Moa's highly acclaimed debut album, 'Thinking Room'. Released in 2001, 'Thinking Room' announced the arrival of a major song-writing talent with such tracks as 'Youthful', 'Good In My Head', and 'Mother'. The album went on to sell over 2 x platinum and debuted # 1 in the Top 40 Album Chart in New Zealand. 'Stolen Hill' was written over the past 2 and a half years while Anika finished touring her last album and travelled the world. Anika considers this album to be more mature, addressing political and personal issues in more depth than her debut album. "There is too much negative energy regarding Maori issues in NZ. This album is all about sending out a positive message". The album was recorded in a barn at Bethalls Beach, on the West coast of Auckland. Produced by Ed Cake (former song writing partner of Geoff Maddock - Goldenhorse). Rueben Patterson, a well-known New Zealand artist/painter, has offered 4 of his collectable works for the artwork in the album booklet. 'Stolen Hill' is an album of honesty and realness imbued with a deep sense of self. "I'm very proud of the album, I've worked real hard for it," says Anika. "I've learnt to be happy with myself and to be strong with whatever I say in my lyrics and whatever I do musically. I'm Maori, I'm from New Zealand, and this is my sound, this is my New Zealand sound, this is how I depict New Zealand as being."
